Vaya Bags - Interview with the owners!

Vaya Bags produced messenger bags, backpacks, accessories and so on. It is a small women owned and operated company based out of Queens, NY. Some of the main material they use to make their bags are recycled bicycle tubes, scrap sailboat awnings and old banners.

Have a peep on the owners behind the scene!

"What is the first Vayabags you make? Which one is your favourite? Are you using it?"

"The first Vaya Bag I made was the one for myself. It was red and grey and I silkscreened a skull on the front. It is still hanging in there although I don't use it anymore, since I am not so into skulls these days. Thankfully I have gotten much better at making bags through the years!"
"My current bag is a Vaya Backpack that is navy, purple and green in a sunburst design. It carries everything I need and is super comfortable.  I think my favorite bag design we make is our woven bike tube messenger bag.We cut the bike tubes into strips, weave them and sew them down.  It is a lot of work, but in the end it looks amazing!"

History

Vaya Bags first started by making the own bags for daily use in Boston in 2005.

People adores their bags. That's when they start making bags for others.

They now have a storefront in Ridgewood, all of their bags made in there.

Features

The most fascinating feature of Vaya bags is waterproofness.

They are getting lots of feedback on how amazing the waterproof  function of the bag is.

These bags actually save  laptops in rainy days.

Production

All of the bags and accessories are handmade by Vaya bags.

When they use the recycled bike tubes, it usually involves a trip to the laundromat to wash all of the tubes.

Then cut them and sew them together.

Each bag is uniquely handmade by them individually.

They offer custom service for customers to create their own bag.

Searching ways to make a bag exactly how they want it is kinda interesting for them.

No matter the boots is heavy and pricey, your shoes organizer still has a pair.

Most of them made by leather or animal materials. How about the people who do not wear animal products?

Native gives the best solution for buyer - The Fitzsimmons.

This boots is made by perforated EVA material. It fits in the bad weather and winter time.

For the leatest fall winter collection, check this album.

Editor review:

Last year, I was looking for hiking boots that is light weight and comfort. Luckily, Native released the fitzsimmons.

Then I bought this shoes from online store. This pair is different from the other boots because of the materials.

All plastic make it as light as air. Details of hiking boots stills keeps on this beauty. There are D-rings on the laces part.

The head of shoes laces and the top D-rings have their logo on it.

A logo tag on the shoe tongue really stand out on the mint green.

To be honest, this shoes is not good to put it on in summer time, but winter.

It keeps your feet warm in freezing weather. Also, I worn it when raining.

You can use it as a raining boots or warm winter boots!

This shoes is one of my favorite because it is not bulky as normal hiking boots. It fits ladies for sure.

Editor Review:
I first heard about LUM-TEC from a post of LUM-TEC 500M3 which kicked off the day. That is stunningly beautiful...but nah....I didn't buy it as 500M series is a bit thick to me. LUM-TEC was running a discount on Combat B series few months ago. Every pieces is so delicated as an mechanic artwork. Though it's tough to make a decision, I finally pick Combat B8.

You can always find out all the detail of the watch and what comes with it on LUM-TEC website, so I don't need to mention that in here. I have to mention the durability of this watch. I had a big fell off my bike once and I didn't expect B8 would survive after a huge scrape on it. The material of LUM-TEC is real solid with high quality as you can see from the photo down below my B8 is still fine! The most fascinating part of LUM-TEC watch is the maximum darkness visibility which I've never seen any watches are capable with that so far. You can watch a review video to see how bright LUM-TEC MDV Technology is! There are so much more about LUM-TEC watch, you will find out once you put it on. Cheers!

Noah Lambert – a leather wallet last a lifetime.

Noah Lambert proudly presents the first handcraft leather wallet to the world.

"Anywhere two pieces of material fastened together are most likely going to fall apart. That's why the simplest products are often the most durable. To ensure my wallets last a lifetime, I create each from a single piece of leather using only two seams." quoted by Noah Lambert based at USA.

The wallet is made of a single piece of 50z vegetable tanned bridle leather from Wickett & Craig of Pennsylvania, one of the nation's oldest and most respected tanneries. It might be a bit stiff when new, but it will get soften with use. After all, this is one of the billion reasons why we fancy leather goods so much, don't we?

The wallet is saddle stitched by hand using Barbour's Red Hand 5 cord linen thread to create a seam twice as durable as the common lock-stitch.

It is priced at $90 USD available at Noah Lambert's website. It takes up to two weeks for worldwide delivery.

Porcelain MMX - the shoes born out of "PRIDE & QUALITY"

Porcelain MMX is set up in mid-2010 in Indonesia. They went through a lot of failures and difficulties to identify their product style. To the local people, Porcelain MMX’s shoes are the symbols of domestic pride and outstanding quality. With the purity of materials, exquisite skills of craftsmen, classical design from the Indonesian shoemakers, Porcelain MMX proudly presents their handcrafted shoes to the world.

 The  Handcraft Process

The craftsmen put insole, uppers and outsole together with single stitch lining. The sole is cut a lot closer to the upper which makes the design sleeker. Just by looking at the pictures, you still can't imagine how many time and efforts they put into it. The width of a sole around the upper varies hugely among Goodyear-welted shoes, but none of the are as thin as Blake-made models. They are just more delicate and will not last as long as Goodyear-welted shoes.

The Latest collection Spring/Summer 2011

Check their video!

Porcelain MMX has released a new series of Spring/Summer 2011 :

  • Two Lace Up Boots with the characteristic dark color tone and bit shiny skin by using crepe sole for more comfortable.
  • Two Chukka boots with Whole-cuts style using genuine leather sole to be more classy and built by Blake Stich Construction for more durable, and Slip on Shoe with premium  suede leather on the upper.
  • Porcelain MMX is defiantly creating an elegant shoe and add definition to pretty darn hot.

In the mid of May 2011 , Porcelian MMX have launched a collection for SS/11 & for this July, Porcelain MMX add a new article titled "The Low-Cut Series" and brought the Cap-Toe Brogue model which is a complement of SS/11 collections. Made from quality material of nubuck, lamb skin for lining & insole, and also blended with high density EVA ( ethylene vinyl acetate ) wedges for outsole. Available in three colours : Black, Coffee, and Tan estimated priced at US 64.
